Situated in the somewhat mystical village of Chivay, Aranwa Colca Canyon has a colonial and traditional feel to it. The resort is coloured in Andean legends and monuments, not to mention it has a prime location on the banks of the Colca River.
The hotel boasts 41 bedrooms, which include three suites and six chalets which provide supreme comfort and privacy for guests. All bedrooms have views of the Andes mountain range.
There is an assortment of dining options here, so guests may chose from local cuisines to fusion sushi. The Pukawi Gourmet Restaurant serves traditional Andean flavours using local ingredients and produce from their organic kitchen garden. The Rikhuna Restaurant is a slightly lighter option with great views of the hotel's chapel and the panoramic mountain range, what more could one want? Sushi perhaps? If so the Kusi Pisco Bar & Sushi Bar is a more intimate option for a cocktail and traditional sushi.
The Unno spa is at the heart of the resort, which offers Vichy shower treatments and a couple's massage suite. There are also heated indoor and outdoor pools to relax and unwind.
For the more active soul there are two natural waterfalls close to the resort to explore. Mountain biking is also an excellent way to further investigate the natural beauty of the Colca valley, and can be organised by the hotel.
Why we love it
Grind grains with the old water-powered mill to bake your own pizza or bread, supervised by one of the hotel's chefs of course.
