Highlights of Oman

What we came up with

One week beginning in Oman's capital, Muscat, soaking up the city whilst lounging in luxury at The Chedi, before decamping to the desert for a combination of isolation and adventure. Finally, stay 2,000 metres above sea-level in the Al Hajar mountains, exploring Oman's stunning landscape on foot, clambering over canyons and rocky outcrops, or visiting hidden cultural gems.

Itinerary Highlights

  • Muscat - 3 days
Immerse yourself in the bustle of Muscat, with a stay at The Chedi, one of the top hotels in the Gulf. Spend a day haggling at the city's chaotic Mutrah Souq, and ambling though the stunning Grand Mosque and the Sultan's Palace for a real flavour of this ancient capital. Retreat to The Chedi, an oasis within 21 acres of landscaped gardens, indulge in a post flight spa treatment, stroll along the private beach, and devour fresh seafood under the stars with your toes in the sand.
  • Wahiba Sands - 1 day
Leaving the city behind, spend a night in a luxurious Bedouin-style tent at the Desert Nights Camp in the Wahiba Sands. Inhale the scents of frankincense and myrrh as you cosy up with a cocktail at the Oasis Bar, and delight in authentic Arabic cuisine by candlelight. As the sun rises, it's time to explore the desert dunes by jeep, quad bike or camel.
  • Hajar Mountains - 3 days
For the (literal and metaphorical) pinnacle of the trip, retreat to the stunning Alila Jabal Akhdar in the Hajar mountains. Lounge by the pool in the sunshine, or sink back into the cosy seats on your balcony, overlooking stunning canyons. Venture out on treks, cave explorations, canyon walks, cultural and culinary visits to explore the A'roos and Saiq Plateaus. Don't forget to explore UNESCO-protected Bahla, and if you're lucky enough to be visiting in March - May when the damask roses are in flower, swathes of pink petals carpet the hills, and you can source the freshest Omani rosewater.

A rough idea of price

A similar itinerary would cost in the region of £2,950 per person which includes all flights, hotels, transfers and organised trips.

A note about prices
