What we came up with

A trip to explore the length of Vietnam, from the stunning hills of Sapa, to the leisurely pace of life in the Mekong Delta, and all whilst staying in some of our favourite hotels.

Itinerary Highlights

  • Hanoi - 2 days
Hanoi is a city of ancient temples, traditional old quarters and French colonial architecture, where a thriving community of market sellers still inhabit the '36 Streets District', and beautiful buildings such as the One Pillar Pagoda and The Temple of Literature are well worth exploring. All of these are on the doorstep of the Sofitel Legend Metropole hotel, a historic building, which boasts an endless list of A-list guests over the years.
  • Overnight train to Sapa
Jump aboard the Victoria Express Train for the journey north into the stunning Sapa region. This overnight journey is a leisurely way to travel north, whilst enjoying delicious cuisine on board.
  • Sapa - 2 days
Settle into the Victoria Hotel Sapa, in the heart of Sapa town. Days will be spent trekking to local hilltribe villages, taking in the stunning mountainous scenes by foot or mountain bike (fully charged cameras are a necessity), and wandering through the bustling local markets where villagers trade their wares.
  • Hoi An - 3 days
The sleepy coastal town of Hoi An is home to the luxurious Nam Hai hotel - the perfect retreat after your time trekking in Northern Vietnam. Spend days lounging poolside, dipping your toes into the South China Sea, or wandering the colourful, cobbled streets of Hoi An's old town - a UNESCO heritage site.
  • Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) - 2 days
After some R&R, it's time to pick up the pace again as you arrive in vibrant Ho Chi Minh city. Ceaseless traffic, strong aromas and an effervescence of day to day life, just wandering through the French colonial architecture of the streets will be an exciting experience. However, some top spots to see include the beautiful architecture of the Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral. After all this exploration a bit of down time and spoiling will undoubtedly be welcome and a stay at Park Hyatt hotel is the ideal place to indulge.
  • Mekong Delta - 1 day
Conclude the trip with a leisurely overnight cruise in the Mekong Delta, aboard the Bassac boat. By day explore the meandering river channels and canals, floating markets, riverside villages and cottage industries, and enjoy a much more relaxed pace of life than in the cities. We can think of no better way to end the trip than enjoying a cool drink on deck, and watching the world float by.

A rough idea of price

A similar itinerary would cost from £3,180 per person which includes all flights, hotels, transfers and organised trips.

A note about prices

The guide prices shown are designed to provide you with a broad indication of how much to budget for your trip. Prices are generally for private arrangements using economy flights based on two people travelling together and sharing a room.
