What we came up with

In a region of such incredible diversity, it seems a shame not to get a glimpse of Cambodia's neighbours, particularly the often-overlooked Laos. Beautiful scenery, welcoming locals, and charming boutique hotels are temptations that will make this a tough region to leave...

Itinerary Highlights

  • Siem Reap - 4 Days
Begin your journey in Siem Reap at Shinta Mani Resort, a design focused hotel within walking distance of the centre of town. Bustling markets, stunning architecture and the fascinating Angkor temple complex (some of which are just fifteen minutes from the hotel by tuk tuk), are just a small selection of the variety of marvels on offer. With a spa, pool and tropical gardens to enjoy, the retreat provides the goods for some serious post-exploring downtime.

  • Kep - 3 Days
Next stop: Cambodia's tranquil coastline and the charming art deco villas at Knai Bang Chatt. Jump on a Hobie Cat and set off to sea, or simply flop by the pool with a cool cocktail. Savour the chef's traditional Khmer amok dishes at the oceanfront restaurant in the evenings, after a rejuvenating massage in the open-air spa cabana.

  • Phnom Penh - 2 Days
The bright lights of Phnom Penh are calling, and the White Mansion Hotel is the perfect place from which to explore the city sights. Spend days exploring the colourful, glistening tiles of the Silver Pagoda and Royal Palace, visit the national museum or opt to take in more sombering sites which will provide an insight into this countries recent, turbulent history. Bustling markets and a burgeoning foodie scene make Phnom Penh worthy of much more than a swift stopover.

  • Luang Prabang - 3 Days
After a few frenetic days in Phnom Penh, the slow Laotian pace of life will come as a welcome relief, and provide a serene end to the trip. UNESCO heritage listed Luang Prabang is renowned for its beauty, whilst a daily procession of 300-400 monks collecting alms illustrates its deep cultural values. The perfect base from which to explore is Hotel de la Paix, located a leisurely amble from central Luang Prabang. Round off your Laotian experience with a visit to the stunning Kuang Si Waterfalls, and a sunset boat trip down the marvellous Mekong river.
