Stockholm and an Arctic Adventure

What we came up with

For those short on time but big on experience, Sweden provides an epic Big Short Break. With just a four night trip, split your time between the achingly trendy capital of Stockholm, and an arctic retreat, where husky sledding, snowmobiling and reindeer are all on the menu.

Itinerary Highlights

  • Stockholm - 2 days
A waterfront city, where cobbled streets and autumnal-hued buildings sit alongside trendy boutique hotels, shopping showcasing the latest in Scandi-cool design, and the inimitable Vasa museum, home to a 17th century warship in all her former glory, after years of painstaking restoration by the Swedes. Rest your head at The Lydmar - a chic waterfront boutique hotel, where the staff treat guests as friends, and will happily share local intel to get the most out of your city stay.

  • Swedish Lapland - 2 days
Heading off into the wilderness, packs of huskies draw sleds through the snowy backdrop of the Rane River Valley, snowmobiles whizz through arctic landscapes, and the elusive Aurora Borealis sometimes make an appearance above the Aurora Safari Camp - and what better spot to view the stunning northern lights than here, aided by the expertise of professional photographer Fredrik Broman to help you capture the perfect shot, no photoshop required. The thought of camping in the snow might not seem like a cosy combination, but the 'glamping' Lavvu tents at Aurora Safari Camp are kitted out with wood burners and arctic sleeping bags to ensure a comfortable arctic kip.

A rough idea of price

A similar itinerary would cost in the region of £1,865 per person which includes all flights, hotels, breakfast in Stockholm and Half Board at the Aurora Safari Camp, and a photography class with Fredrik Broman.

A note about prices

The guide prices shown are designed to provide you with a broad indication of how much to budget for your trip. Prices are generally for private arrangements using economy flights based on two people travelling together and sharing a room. There are a number of factors which will influence the price; these include the standard of accommodation, the season, the class of flights, the airline used and the level of private guiding versus shared excursions.
