Janelas Verdes (meaning ‘Green Windows’) is a small and intimate hotel housed in a recently restored late 18th century mansion house.
The hotel is located near to the Museum of Ancient Art in a peaceful street in the smart Lapa district of Lisbon, and has just 29 rooms, giving it a calm atmosphere.
Each of the rooms is individually decorated in a style in keeping with the building's historic character. All have air conditioning and satellite TV. On the top floor is a library and bar, with a balcony overlooking the rooftops and the river Tagus.
In the summer months, breakfast is served in a patio garden, or guests can go to one of the many local cafés.
There is no restaurant, so guests are required to eat their main meals out - no great hardship in a city with a wide range of excellent restaurants.
Why we love it
The location is perfect for exploring the city!
