A Luxury City Break to Dubrovnik

Image of Harriet Harford

What we came up with

Enjoy a luxury city break in Dubrovnik, one of Europe's most beautiful cities, and the perfect destination for a Big Short Break. The magnificent walled city is picture perfect and pocket sized so ideal for exploring on foot, and makes an ideal base from which to explore the nearby - and completely beautiful - Elaphiti Islands.

Itinerary Highlights

  • Most flights from the UK leave and arrive in the morning, so after checking in at the luxurious Villa Dubrovnik, with views across to the city, you can walk the short distance (one mile) in to town and enjoy lunch overlooking the harbour.
  • Spend a day exploring Dubrovnik in more detail. The city centre within the huge defensive walls is one of the most interesting, charming (Byron referred to the city as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic') and best preserved medieval cities anywhere in the world, and its diminutive size means it can easily be explored on foot. We will provide you with a detailed and up to date Dossier of where to see, eat, drink and shop, but we can also arrange a guide who can really bring the city to life, revealing the secret corners of the city away from the Stradun (main street) such as hidden 16th century graffiti and explaining what life was like during the infamous siege of 1991-2. This evening we can book a table at one of the many fine seafood restaurants in town.
  • Today we recommend spreading your wings and venturing beyond the city itself to the Elaphiti Islands. You can head across to nearby Lokrum Island and walk to the top of a hill for stunning views back across the city, or in summer we can arrange sea kayaking day trips around the beautiful islands of Kolocep, Lopud or Sipan. Kayaking is easy to pick up, and gliding across the extremely clear water is a satisfyingly peaceful way to travel and gives you access to the many hidden coves and inlets that pock-mark the islands' shores. Stop for a swim or snorkel from secluded beaches, and eat delicious fresh calamari at seaside restaurants.
  • Enjoy a relaxing morning at your hotel before a long lazy lunch and return transfer to the airport for an early evening flight back to the UK.

A rough idea of price

A similar itinerary would cost from £450 per person, which includes flights, accommodation at Villa Dubrovnik and private transfers, but not the organised trips as described. Please note that prices can fluctuate dependent upon season and international flight availability.

A note about prices

The guide prices shown are designed to provide you with a broad indication of how much to budget for your trip. Prices are generally for private arrangements using economy flights based on two people travelling together and sharing a room. There are a number of factors which will influence the price; these include the standard of accommodation, the season, the class of flights, the airline used and the level of private guiding versus shared excursions.
