Right in the heart of Cienfuegos old town you’ll find the beautiful and historic La Union Hotel, built in the 1860s.
Despite having been fully renovated to ensure facilities remain up to date, the 34 rooms and 14 suites at the hotel are all still decorated in traditional colonial style, with views of either the city or inner courtyard. Inside the large rooms tiled floors and dark-wood furniture are paired with both neutral and brightly painted walls to create a style typical of Cuba and, in particular, Cienfuegos.
An international buffet and some a la carte options can be enjoyed in the main restaurant, 1869. The décor here is also in keeping with the French colonial history of Cienfuegos and the stained-glass windows and beautiful black and white tiled floor are particularly striking. Drinks can be sipped either at the pool bar or the terrace bar, which has lovely views of the city.
During a stay at La Union Hotel guests can relax and cool off by the shaded pool in the central courtyard. Additionally, there is a small spa and fitness centre and there are numerous things to see and do in the surrounding city. The beautiful architecture and historic sights of the old town are just a stone's throw away and scuba diving and range of water sports can be found not too far away on the beach. Trips to the waterfalls of El Nicho and colourful Trinidad and Santa Clara can also be arranged from here.
The hotel's beautiful colonial style courtyards are incredibly tranquil and make you forget that you're in the centre of Cienfuegos.
