Classic Cuba

What we came up with

This is cultural Cuba in ten days, staying in casa particulares and rustic hotels. From the bustling Havana to beautiful Vinales, followed by a stay in picture perfect Trinidad, culture vultures will be in their element as they soak in the glorious history that Cuba has to offer.

Itinerary Highlights

  • Havana - 4 Days
The thumping undertones of vibrant life ricochet throughout Cuba's capital, Havana, one of the last places on earth where the Communist/Marxist regime can still be witnessed. A survivalist spirit blends with fascinating museums and architecture, blendy classic colonial architecture, with simple communist buildings, which are home to many of today's city dwellers. Hotel Saratoga is located on the edge of the 'Old Havana' district, which is at its historical heart, and remains a place with a lively soul.

  • Vinales - 3 Days
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Vinales lies between the bustling cities and stretches of coastline, and it is here that La Autentica Hotel sits. The dramatic scenery of this fertile valley region is what entices visitors to come and explore. Unique natural landmarks known as Mogotes make up the surroundings, as their hilly exterior sharply contrasts with the rest of the flatter land. There is very much an 'other worldly' vibe about this place, with traditional farming methods such as oxen being used, while the local people of varying ethnicities reside in small dwellings around the area.

  • Trinidad - 3 Days
Totally underexplored, yet utterly fascinating, Trinidad is a place often (and wrongly) overlooked by visitors to Cuba. An incredibly photogenic area, the centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it's best to wander on foot to really soak in the exciting atmosphere. A stay at Finca Kenia brings with it the first boutique hotel in the area, meaning an authentic yet charming stay is possible. For those after a little adventure, just inland are the Escambray Mountains, where trekking trails weave toward rivers and waterfalls. The old sugar mills of the Valle de Los Ingenios are also well worth a visit, with the original manor houses, slave watchtowers and slave quarters all available to view.

A rough idea of price

A similar itinerary would cost from £3,980 per person which includes all flights, hotels, transfers and organised trips.
