While parts of Costa Rica are known for their biodiversity, Guanacaste, and particularly the Nicoya Peninsula, is famous for the fantastic year-round surfing conditions. The Nicoya Peninsula has the added benefit of warm Pacific waters and far less people than other beaches, particularly those around the National Parks of Costa Rica. The conditions are so good here that even as a complete novice you stand a good chance of cracking it (although we make no guarantees). If relaxing on the beach is more your style, the Nicoya Peninsula is much drier than the rest of the country, so you are far less likely to be caught in the rain while lying on your sunbed than in more forested areas. Whichever your preference, the beaches of Guanacaste and the Nicoya Peninsula are bound to provide the perfect way for you to spend your holiday, take a look at our top pick of things to do for more.
