The Original Travel UK team are really looking forward to the year ahead, especially due to all the exciting openings and new excursions happening in 2017. After spending much of last year on research trips across England, Scotland & Ireland we have compiled a list of our favourite new suggestions of what to do and where to stay in the UK

The NED

The NED is set to be the coolest London Hotel opening in 2017. Annie & Amor were lucky enough to see a sneak preview of the hotel and were wowed by the hotel's vision and progress! The property, which is a partnership of Soho House & Co and New York's Sydell Group, is based in the iconic former Midland Bank building. Channelling its 1920's heritage the building will host nine restaurants in what was previously the banking floor as well as over 200 bedrooms in three categories. Highlights of the hotel include the secret bar set in one of the old bankers vaults, complete with a 20 tonne door and original safety deposit boxes lining the walls, a range of spa offerings and the heated rooftop pool which boasts St Paul's Cathedral as its backdrop. Based near Bank in the City, the hotel is surprisingly accessible with easy access to big tourist sites such as The Tower of London or trendy Shoreditch.

Opens May 1st 2017

Kensington Palace

Kensington Palace is hosting a temporary garden and new fashion exhibition based on Diana, the Princess of Wales, to mark the 20th anniversary of her death. The exhibition will trace the evolution of Diana's style throughout the ages, from her days as a young bride in demure outfits through to her growth in confidence and love of fashion in later life. Original Travel UK can arrange a pre-opening tour of Kensington Palace including a visit to the exhibition, without the crowds! For something special let us arrange a private breakfast in the palace's Orangery beforehand.

Opens 24th February

Chatsworth House

Chatsworth House is hosting it's first ever flower show. This stately home, set in the beautiful Peak District, is one of OTUK's favourites (and one we will explore in more detail in our Webinar.) The Royal Horticultural Society's new Flower Show will be themed on 'Design Revolutionaries', which will celebrate gardeners and designers of the past. Different to all other RHS shows they have departed from the grid like layout of exhibits, in order to take advantage of the natural curves of the rolling landscapes - set to maximise the vistas and show off the house. Perfect for anyone with a love of gardening - especially those who are heading onto Scotland from London.

Open June 7th - 11th

Adare Manor

In Susie and Rita's recent trip to Ireland they met with members of the Adare Manor team and saw the exciting plans for the hotel. Set to rival the recently renovated Ashford Castle, the reopening of Adare Manor will be perfect for clients looking to tour the West of Ireland. The hotel is just a stones throw from the cultural city of Limerick and famous sites such as the Cliffs of Moher are also easily accessible. We are particularly excited about the horse and hounds welcome for VIPs, the world class golf course and the 800 acres of parkland with an abundance of activities such as fishing, archery and falconry dotted across the grounds.

Soft opening Autumn 2017

Irish Horse-racing

We have a new Irish experience set to get pulses racing! We can arrange behind the scenes access for your clients to meet top trainers and horses at stables located near the best racing in Ireland. Combine this with a visit to the Irish National Stud or hospitality at races such as the Irish Derby (Saturday July 1st) for a spectacular weekend for race goers. Your local driver-guide will be on hand to transfer you to and from each destination and your hotel. We would suggest taking Straffan House (an exclusive use property based in the grounds of the K Club) to ensure your group is looked after in style.

Available all year round, best in summer season
