While in danger of sounding like an overly-cheesy Hollywood film, sometimes it's as much about the journey as it is the destination, especially when said journeys involve stunning scenery gradually unfurling before you while you soak up local life. Boat

Train

Walking
Lace up your walking boots and head to Epirus in northwest Greece where you can hike through Vikos Gorge, the world's deepest canyon. The scenery may be the main draw but there's also over 3,000 species of flora and fauna to be admired in this region. Next up is Meteora, home to jaw-dropping ancient monasteries perched precariously on narrow clifftops.
Cycling
