Beirut City: The Real City That Never Sleeps

Beirut City: The Real City That Never Sleeps

Lebanese not only talk the talk, they walk the walk...

We arrived in Beirut...

After an extremely sociable flight (they love a natter, those Lebanese) that left London after lunch, and arrived in Beirut a mere four hours later, and just in time for an evening cocktail. On arrival we were met and whisked off, Sex in the City style, in a fleet of BMW's to the newly opened Four Seasons Hotel. And what a hotel it is. The service is faultless and the 26th floor swimming pool and bar is destined to be the new place to hang out in a city where party animals are already spoilt for choice.

Partying begins...

At about 1am the clubs begin to open and the super cars cruise up and down the streets, their drivers furiously showing off to one another. In fact if you want to do as the Romans do, we can hire you a supercar for the evening, or a speedboat to head along the coast to the ancient city of Byblos and lunch at Pepe's. Aside from professional posing, what else is there to do in Lebanon? Eat well. In fact extremely well - the food is incredible. Then burn it all off by partying the night away in one of the epic clubs, or sit with the locals and your sheesha pipe, challenging them to a game of backgammon. For the really active - and until the end of April/early May - head into the mountains to ski in the morning and be back in the afternoon to start the party in one of the many beach clubs. You'll need a holiday to recover from this holiday.
