What we came up with

The ultimate South Australia experience. Hop from wildlife spotting on Kangaroo Island, to the Barossa Wine Valley, and on to the spectacular scenery of the Flinders Ranges, before ending with some city time in Sydney, and luxurious R&R on Lord Howe Island.

Itinerary Highlights

  • Kangaroo Island - 3 Days
After a brief jet lag recovery stop in Adelaide, the adventure begins at Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island. Known as Australia's Galapagos, this is a top spot to seek out Australian wildlife in natural habitats. Low rise suites snake along the coastline of this rugged island - the ideal location from which to glimpse any number of the kangaroo, wallaby, koala and bandicoot that might saunter past the panoramic glass walls.

  • Barossa Wine Valley - 2 Days
Following an exploration of the great outdoors, a gentle retreat to the wine region of Barossa allows you to indulge in the sumptuous wines and the gastronomy of The Louise. With stunning views across the vineyards beyond, walks, tastings and relaxation are the order of the day. All the rooms here have also been strategically placed so as to enjoy either a sunset or sunrise view.

  • Flinders Ranges - 3 Days
Head on to the Flinders Ranges, and exchange the pampering for a typical Aussie homestead in all its rustic glory. Arkaba sits within a 60,000 acre sheep station just outside the Flinders Range National Park, a majestic wilderness of craggy sandstone bluffs and dry creek beds. Try your hand at mountain biking and bush walking, and venture out on overnight safaris to see red and grey kangaroo, as well as fascinating aboriginal rock art sites.

  • Sydney - 4 Days
Overlooking Sydney Harbour and with spectacular views of the Opera House, the chic Park Hyatt provides a tranquil oasis in which to relax after a day exploring the city. Visit the Botanical Gardens, wander among foodie and fashion markets, take in the National Maritime Museum, or National Gallery of Contemporary Art, take a Sydney Harbour cruise, or leave the city behind to explore the stunning Blue Mountains, or hit the sands of the iconic Bondi Beach.

  • Lord Howe Island - 4 Days
Round off the trip with a stay at the luxurious Capella Lodge on Lord Howe Island. World Heritage listed, and with a wonderful, peaceful coastline, this is the island to come to for a beach escape. Less than two hours by air from Sydney it couldn't seem further removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. Take some time to catch up on a much needed rest, and soak in the glorious scenery and Australian sunshine.

A rough idea of price

A similar itinerary would cost in the region of £7,950 per person, which includes all flights, hotels, transfers and organised trips.

A note about prices

The guide prices shown are designed to provide you with a broad indication of how much to budget for your trip. Prices are generally for private arrangements using economy flights based on two people travelling together and sharing a room.
