Ant’s Hill is a beautifully unique bush lodge located on a private game reserve in the malaria free Waterberg plateau (an easy three hour road transfer or a short flight from Johannesburg).
Ant's Hill caters for a maximum of 16, spread across the main lodge and several private cottages. There are two double honeymoon cottages (Lookout and Hideaway), two family cottages (Family Cottage and World's View), and one luxurious room (Eagle's Nest) above the main lodge. The lodge and cottages have a real rustic feel; with stone walls and olive colours, plus waterfall showers and sunken baths to emphasise the fantastic views. The rooms are adorned with fun, brightly coloured fabrics and feature huge four poster beds.
Dining at Ant's Hill is all part of the experience and Ant and his team pride themselves on their extensive range of dining locations. From bush breakfasts to campfire dinners and lunch at the pool, food is always served with a view. If that wasn't special enough, the food itself is truly superb and perfectly fuses home cooked African flavours with fine dining style. There is also a fantastic selection of wines available to taste and tipple.
Both Ant's Hill and its sister property Ant's Nest specialise in riding safaris and offer the opportunity for some wonderful unspoilt game viewing. The horses are all fit and responsible and the pace can be as fast or as relaxed as you'd like. The herd of over 90 horses is made up of big thoroughbreds and Arab-Boerperd crosses and also includes some fabulous ponies. Furthermore, the horses live out during the day and constantly intermingle with game, meaning that when guests come across wildlife whilst riding, they can often get so close the experience is extraordinary.
There are plenty of other activities available for those keen only on doing one ride a day, such as guided walks, game drives and mountain biking, not to mention the wonderful relaxing massages and pool with panoramic views. Plus, the Ant's Hill staff are extremely flexible, offering up to three activities in any morning or afternoon - in other words you won't be chased out of bed at five am!
