August
Family holidays in Europe are probably highest on the agenda here, and with good reason. The warm waters of the Med are an easy hop away, and while everyone seems to have had the same idea, we at Original Travel know the very best family (and bank balance) friendly places to stay. For a different take on the beachfront family holiday, we recommend the inlets and islands of the beautiful West Coast of Sweden.
And last but not least, those of you looking to avoid children at all costs should consider the extremely long flight(s) to Fiji and Polynesia which will probably put families off and guarantee relative peace and quiet.
Elsewhere, the Northern Hemisphere's summer months are an ideal time to be in the Andean countries of South America; the skies are blue, sun shines and nights are refreshingly cool. August is very busy at Machu Picchu and in Peru in general, so head instead for neighbouring Ecuador and visit the highlands north of Quito, with their indigenous markets and colonial haciendas.
