Wadi Rum, Petra and Dead Sea - Jordan

‘Our trip to Jordan was a great success. Everything ran incredibly smoothly. We were picked up and escorted through the airport despite a delayed flight.

Weather was pretty awful for the first day or two and was cooler than expected, except at the Dead Sea, which was hotter. Our driver was excellent; courteous, punctual, informative, friendly and accommodating at all times. Car was clean and very comfortable.

Amman; The Four Seasons Hotel was excellent. We didn’t think there was much to see in the town itself, but we had a good meal at The Fahkredeine Restaurant

Jerash was excellent. We would highly recommend our incredibly knowledgeable and fascinating guide [Mr Mohammed] who had worked there for more than 30 years. We felt very privileged to have him.

Wadi Rum; Fantastic! We loved our private camp even if it was a bit cold at night and wild animals were scrabbling by our ears. There was a full moon, the stars were amazing, the boy who lay outside the flap of our tent all night produced a pretty good meal and the fire he built kept us warm. A night to remember.

Petra. My husband had last visited Petra 32 years ago when he stayed in the site itself. We stayed at the Movenpick which was ok. It is certainly not a 5 star hotel like the Four Seasons or Kempinski. It is probably because, of course it is the perfect location and they don’t really have to try. Although perfectly comfortable and clean, service is impersonal. We ate there but the food was unreliable.

Our driver suggested doing the night tour when we arrived which was marvellous and we would recommend it. The Treasury and paths were lit by candlelight and there was a short concert.

The journey to the Dead Sea was great. The driver took us to Kerak en route. My husband was so pleased to revisit this castle as, like Petra, many more parts had been excavated since his last visit.

The Dead Sea was good. The Kempinski was beautiful and the weather perfect. We had a restful day swimming in the numerous pools and floating in the Dead Sea.

Our flight arrived at Heathrow an hour early!
