Victoria Falls & Kafue

Zambia

The spray rising from the falls can be seen from miles away, and at more than a mile wide, this is the largest curtain of water on the planet.

The activities that Original Travel offer around Vic Falls are hugely diverse, and should keep the most addicted adrenaline junkie happy.

Try bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls bridge, or a gorge swing, white-water rafting, boogie-boarding in the rapids, microlight flights over the Falls and even abseiling the gorge. We particularly recommend a visit to Livingstone Island in the middle of the river, and swimming in the natural pool just feet from the edge of the Falls. It is a hair-raising but thoroughly memorable experience.

More sedate pastimes include canoeing trips, exceptional bird and game viewing. And golf.

Kafue National Park, Zambia’s largest protected area, is easily accessible from Livingstone (the town by Victoria Falls) or Lusaka. This 8,500 square mile wilderness is home to all the big cats, elephant, buffalo and hippo and more unusual species such as sable, roan, puku, oribi and lechwe.

Liuwa Plain
Liuwa Plain
Zambia

Tell an Africaphile you are going to "Liuwa Plain" - and you’ll grab their attention. Many seasoned Africa travellers have heard of these vast open grasslands in the far west of Zambia but few, very very few, have been there. This vast open plain lies west of the Zambezi River, on the Angolan Border. It is extremely hard to get to, being cut off other than by boat for 4 months of the year (Jan - April), and even when you can drive there it is an expedition to do so - with miles and miles of rutted sand roads and no road signs!
