River Club
The River Club is situated on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River, eleven miles upstream from Victoria Falls. The lodge has a tranquil setting and is based around an Edwardian-style house, with a wide veranda and manicured lawns.
Ten luxurious, thatched chalets overlook the river; each is privately sited but open-fronted to allow guests uninterrupted views of the Zambezi. Facilities include a riverside swimming pool and a deck with hammocks and loungers. Activities include boat trips to the river islands, fishing for bream or tiger fish, and sundowner cruises. There is also a croquet lawn and beauty treatments are available in the massage tent. Beyond the lodge, there are many other activities, the highlight of which is a trip to Victoria Falls - one of the natural wonders of the world. Helicopter flights over the falls can be arranged for an aerial view. Other activities range from bungee-jumping, white-water rafting and jet-boating to horse riding, golf, visits to local markets or the crocodile farm, and tours of Livingstone town. Although River Club is not a game lodge, there is still a fair bit of wildlife about. Elephants often appear on the opposite bank, and hippos are regularly seen (and heard). Game drives are offered in the nearby Mosi Oa Tunya Game Park, or further afield to the Chobe Game Park in neighbouring Botswana.
