Grootbos
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve is a 4,200 acre reserve overlooking Walker Bay, just east of Hermanus on the Cape coast.
Grootbos consists of two lodges: the original, rustic Garden Lodge, which has 11 cottages and is well suited to families, and a more contemporary 16-room Forest Lodge set amongst ancient milkwood trees. Each lodge has its own pool and is linked by winding pathways to the main lodge.
Activities at Grootbos include guided walks on the reserve to discover the unique fynbos ecosystem, or lazing on pristine sandy beaches. There are regular boat trips in the months when whales arrive, and other things on show include sea bird colonies, African penguins, Cape fur seals, dolphins and great white sharks.
