Borana
Borana Lodge is set on the 35,000-acre Borana Ranch on the edge of the Laikipia Plateau in the central highlands of Kenya.
From the lodge there are panoramic views of Mount Kenya and the surrounding plains. Accommodation is in eight individual cottages, one of which is a double family cottage.
Each has a veranda and is well secluded from its neighbours. Delicious home-grown organic food is served in the central lodge building, where there is also a large fireplace to gather round in the evenings.
The lodge overlooks a dam which serves as a watering hole for all the wildlife in the area, so there is constant activity to watch, including elephants swimming. A wide diversity of wildlife is found at Borana, including big cats, buffalo, giraffe, large herds of plains game and rich birdlife. Activities include game drives (including night drives), guided bush walks, horse-riding and mountain biking.
Alternatively, you can just relax by the pool, enjoy a massage and drink in the stunning scenery.
