Spending a few days on Easter Island was an amazing experience - the hundreds of mysterious Moai which are scattered all over it are quite mesmerising and the remoteness of the island adds to it’s charm. Reaching the Sun Gate to watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu after trekking the Inca Trail – it was definitely worth 4 days of walking to see it before the tourist buses arrived! 

A camel ride through the Sahara somewhere outside Timbuktu seemed quite exciting and intrepid until I fell off. It was a long way to fall and a very painful week long drive back to Ghana. It proved very entertaining for the guides though, who assured me that in a lifetime of living with camels, they had never seen anyone fall off…
