It doesn't get much better than hanging out with a mass of beautiful, toned people at a pool party on South Beach – Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel is the hottest ticket in town.

The best American cities have something in common - a population that appears to consist entirely of actors starring in their own (award-winning, naturally) screenplays.
Why we think you’ll love it
- Every now and then one of those 'you must go to…' restaurants actually lives up to the hype, and Joe's Stone Crab is just that place. You can't book but the lunchtime queues are shorter (and potentially bypassed completely with a judiciously aimed $50 bill). The shellfish is uniformly delicious but best of all, of course, is the eponymous stone crab.
- Miami has a very happening art scene. Don't miss the Art & Design Night which happens every 2nd Saturday at the Design District when galleries open to the public for music and refreshments.
- One week each year the world's biggest DJs descend into Miami for Ultra Music Festival. Don't go if you're after a quiet time.
- The Everglades is a rare subtropical ecosystem, and only an hour away from Miami - perfect distance for a day trip.

More on luxury travel to Miami...
Had Bill 'all the world's a stage' Shakespeare visited Manhattan he'd have loved the 'I'm walkin' here!' mock grumpiness of New Yawkers and seen the piquant poignancy in the thwarted dreams of endless wannabes in Los Angeles.
These cities are more than the sum of their bit parts but they are nothing compared to Florida's finest, a city where the sheer self-confidence of the locals, despite the economic shoeing of the last few years, reaches epic proportions.
It is, quite simply, all about me in Miami, with several scenes playing out at any one time - the buzzing contemporary art scene, a dance music scene threatening to rival that in Ibiza, the extremely sexy Cuban exile scene, and a gay see and be scene. It all adds up to one of the best urban environments for a luxury holiday anywhere in the world right now.
Best of all, Miami is the gateway to many of our favourite destinations in Latin America. Rather than passing through the monster that is Miami International Airport and being made to feel like a terrorist in transit, why not spend a night or two in Miami on route to Costa Rica, Guatemala, Colombia, Peru or Ecuador and enjoy one of the coolest combos of destinations anywhere on the planet.
