Petra

Petra was carved from pink sandstone cliffs by the Nabataeans some two millennia ago, and left undisturbed until its rediscovery in 1812. 'Petra' actually means rock in Greek, referring to the fact that the entire city was hewn from the rocky cliff faces. This is one of the planet's real 'must see' destinations. The entrance to the famous city is a narrow high-walled gully, which widens to reveal the spectacular Treasury building.
