Tunis, Carthage & the Sahara
Tunisia
Tunisia is desperate to shed its reputation as a package destination so we've handpicked the best hotels and most exciting experiences because it's only a matter of time before everyone else catches on
Tunisia has had something of a reputation as a three-star destination of late, but after a recent and extensive research trip, Original Travel are delighted to add this captivating North African country, situated between Algeria and Libya, to our portfolio.
The excellent Residence Hotel, just outside Tunis, is a sister property of the Residence in Mauritius and every bit as good, and if you want a change of scene from lying by the pool or on the beach at the hotel, the country has a fascinating history influenced by Romans and Arabs, Berbers and Phoenicians.
The ancient city of Carthage, artistic suburb of Sidi bou Said and the bustling medina of Tunis are all within easy reach of the hotel and the Sahara is only a short propeller plane flight away. There's the option of exploring the desert by 4x4 or quad bikes or the more sedate pastime of watching the sunrise over the vast salt plains nearby.

The highlight of the trip for Patrick and I was the Bardo...
