One of the best preserved Roman cities in the Middle East and well worth a half day’s exploration from Amman if you have time to spare.
The Roman era is brought vividly back to life in regular re-enactments of chariot-racing and gladiator duels put on at the newly restored hippodrome. (This should really appeal to both children and kidults).
