Jaguar Research Centre
Located in central-western Brazil, the Pantanal is a UK-sized mosaic of seasonally-flooded savannahs and tropical forests that features the finest wildlife viewing in Latin America.
The Jaguar Research Centre opened in 2007 in the heart of the 270,000-acre Meeting-of-the-Waters State Park. The park’s abundant Capybaras and Paraguayan Caimans, which are favourite prey species, support the world’s densest and tamest population of Jaguars.
JRC (or as it is more commonly known as) is owned and operated by two experienced, international wildlife biologists who aim to show that high-quality ecotourism can anchor a sustainable future for the Pantanal. The Jaguar Research Centre comprises of eight 12-by-14-foot, walk-in tents made of thick canvas, as no buildings can be erected in the pristine core of the park and a wonderful houseboat. The roof of the tent reaches more than 8 feet high, allowing even the tallest guests to walk around most of the tent. Each tent also features electric light, an electrical socket for charging cameras and en-suite bathrooms.
Ultimately guest travel to this amazing JRC to try and see the big cats- especially the jaguar not surprisingly!
