Known as the gateway to Chile over the Andes, Mendoza itself is a destination in its own right. Founded in 1562, the city benefits from its position at the foot of the Andes; boasting clement weather, lovely clear light and a stunning scenic backdrop, its easy to comprehend why Mendoza has been an inspiration to the arts and is home to many musicians, writers, poets and painters.

The city is considered to be one of the prettiest in Argentina with beautiful parks, wide shaded sidewalks and a peaceful atmosphere, however the region is undoubtedly most famous for its excellent wine production.

Its fertile soil, thanks to pure mountain spring waters, and consistent climate are responsible for the lush countryside that supports the many vineyards in the area. During your stay, visits to local wineries are an absolute must, and if your travel dates permit – don’t miss the harvest which takes place from March to April, where Mendoza comes alive with processions, festivals and celebrations.

In addition to exploring its wine country or strolling around the historic quarter of the city, Mendoza offers a myriad of activities such as hiking, mountain biking, riding, and white water rafting just to get you started.
