Six Senses Laamu

The brand new Six Senses Laamu is 'little sister' to the world famous Soneva Fushi and Soneva Gili resorts in the Maldives, and designed to attract a younger, funkier clientele.

Located towards the south of the Maldivian archipelago, Six Senses Laamu is designed to offer individual style along with a strong sense of community. The resort has 97 luxurious Beach Villas designed to provide an unparalleled level of privacy, comfort and luxury, with a focus on natural materials creating a soft yet stylish retreat for guests.

Six Senses Laamu’s restaurants and bars have been designed to take maximum advantage of the islands idyllic beauty with panoramic views and spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Leaf Restaurant is perched high above the resort’s Organic garden. It serves the freshest possible food, picked and caught only hours before it is served. Growing in the garden is a whole range of different papayas and the chili patch has a private table for dinner parties.

Longitude is a brasserie-style restaurant, offering salads, fresh fish and pasta as well as an a la carte, daily changing menu. There is also a full range of cooking classes, where guests can enjoy learning about various cuisine from Asia and Western world.

Altitude is a 20 foot tower of spun glass, rising high out of the sea – a wine cellar with a serious difference, housing 500 different labels, a delicatessen and an all important tasting table. Elsewhere Ice serves crepes and chocolate and a mere 40 different flavours of homemade ice cream.

For drinks, Chai is a bar with every available choice of teas and coffee, and Chill Lounge & Bar is built over the water on several levels. It has an excellent cocktail list, inspired by tropical recipes. After the sun sets the calm vibe is slowly cranked up and DJs play late into the night.

Facilities include an open-air Jungle Cinema and a dive centre offering snorkelling (with a resident marine biologist), diving excursions and certification courses on one of the most beautiful and untouched reefs in the world. The watersports centre offers a wide range of activities including windsurfing, canoeing, catamaran sailing, wakeboarding and water skiing. Staff can also arrange local island excursions by private speedboat or picnics to a deserted tropical island with a packed lunch and privacy, or a party and butler service.

Located on the shores of the island, the Six Senses Spa has five secluded treatment rooms plus two single and two double treatments ‘Nests’ within the island’s natural vegetation. Highly skilled Spa therapists use fresh natural products to provide a comprehensive range of award-winning signature treatments plus rejuvenation specialties of the region. Holistic treatments including reflexology, acupressure, reiki and shiatsu are also available.

Other facilities include sauna, hammam and Kneippe experiences, plus sound therapy and a fully equipped gym with lap swimming pool. Yoga and personal training programmes are offered on the raised meditation pavilion with views over the ocean.
