Nikoi Island
Nikoi is a private island just 55 miles from Singapore and owned by a small group of expatriates who bought the island in 2002 and have only recently opened it up to tourism.
There are a total of fifteen beach houses, with the owners adamant that there will be no more construction on the island. The houses are quintessentially Robinson Crusoe, made from local driftwood with alang alang grass roofs, and all have direct access to the perfect sandy beaches. At night the pool (there is also a children’s pool) area ranks as one of the more romantic spots in Asia, with a torch-lit jungle path followed by the elevated board walk through the rocks, waves lapping below and the uplit rain forest canopy above. Activities on offer include rock climbing and boat trips, as well as sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, snorkelling, diving and fishing.
