This ski resort is spot on for families, ideal for beginners and seasoned powder-hounds alike. 30 lifts open up 120km of pistes including the Diablerets glacier. Perhaps the best known of these lifts is the charming train which slowly wends its way up from the village of Villars to Bretaye.
Villars is certainly best known as a family resort and the friendly and superbly-run ski-school easily lives up to this reputation. If snow-boarding is your thing then the two local boarding parks do the perfect job.
The town has several good restaurants and bars while the mountain is dotted with tasty bolt-holes for fondue and raclette.
For those keen on a bit of star-spotting, Villars has recently become the adopted ski resort of several Formula One racing stars, with David Coulthard and Jacques Villeneuve owning chalets here.
