Casa Olea
Travel professional Tim and his hotelier wife Claire bought this remote and run-down cortijo (olive farm) in the heart of Andalucia over five years ago, and have realised their dream to create a luxurious and comfortable bolthole that remains true to its roots and its location.
Andalucia is now their home, and their hospitality and love of their property and the area make for a unique and very special stay.
A traditional farmhouse with the style and home comforts of a boutique B&B, Casa Olea sits in glorious rural isolation, surrounded by the olive groves and mountains of The Parque Natural Sierras Subbéticas, a spectacular region still not on the map for UK visitors. This is the “real Andalucia”, home to the pueblos blancos, craggy peaks, local food and wine, and plentiful traditional fiestas and ferias.
Ideal for private hire, Casa Olea can be taken over in its entirety for a long weekend or a week or more. Guests at Casa Olea can choose to cater for themselves, or to enjoy home cooking and local wines in the bar, dining room or on the terrace, with barbeques on offer in summer too. Activities at the property range from mountain biking or hiking to lazing in a hammock at the poolside.
While every comfort is catered for - bathrooms have rain showers, beds are huge and bedding is Egyptian cotton – the house is determinedly ‘responsible’, with solar panels and a biomass boiler providing the winter time’s cosy under-floor heating, and the Spanish-speaking owners working exclusively with local suppliers, and sourcing local produce and fixtures and fittings.
Décor is clean and simple, mixing the cobble-stone floors and wrought-iron balconies typical of a traditional Andalucian cortijo with ‘boutique’ home comforts and indulgent touches. Views from every room are sweeping and beautiful, with one bedroom having a private terrace and the others balconies.
Casa Olea is located midway between Granada and Córdoba, less than an hour from Granada airport and Córdoba AVE train station, 90 minutes from Málaga airport, 2 hours from Seville airport.
