Learn to Bobsleigh

Norway

This is a unique chance to spend a weekend learning the basics of bobsleighing and skeleton riding, under the expert instruction of the GB bobsleigh team and/or the Lillehammer Olympic Park team.

Fly to Oslo, then connect by train up to Lillehammer, venue for the Winter Olympics in 1994. As a former Olympic venue, Lillehammer’s winter sporting facilities are amongst the very best in Europe. After a briefing and walking the course, bobsleigh or skeleton riding begins.

Skeleton riding involves lying face down on the sled facing forward. Travelling at speeds in excess of 60 mph (the best riders approach 80 mph), your face just inches above the surface of the ice, is amongst the most thrilling of all adrenalin sports. Given the nature of the sport, safety is paramount and as such our instructors are trained to the highest standards.

Beginners in bobsleigh or skeleton can expect to experience an adrenalin rush at the very top end of the scale. Pulling up to 5Gs on the sharpest curves, anyone riding the run will become a member of the 5G Club, allowing a return to enjoy Lillehammer’s Olympic bob-run again in the future. Tours of the Olympic facilities are also available with the opportunity to ride the Olympic Downhill simulator.
