Kite-surfing in Paros
Greece
In kite-surfing terms Paros is a hidden gem, ideal for beginners and experts alike and without doubt Greece’s premier kiting spot.
That the island also happens to be extremely beautiful is something of a bonus. The kite-surfing centre is set in a perfect spot protected from the large waves formed off the neighbouring island of Anti-Paros, but still allowing the wind to funnel through to kiting perfection. In addition, the sea is shallow with a sandy bottom, and the long flat beach is the perfect launch pad to ride from.
Away from the kiting, Paros has 80 miles of coastline and many small beaches. There is also culture aplenty with evidence of civilisation going back 6000 years. The island is dotted with a lovely selection of beach-side tavernas and bars, most of which are traditional, family run affairs. There are also a couple of cool Mykonos- or Ibiza-style beach bars pumping out the inevitable beach tunes, decked out in regulation floaty muslin and selling expensive cocktails to beautiful people. Farangias is probably the best example.
