Climbing
France
After two days of practice and acclimatisation, and weather permitting (of course!), the ascent will be made via the Gouter Ridge route, often referred to as the 'traditional' route.
Ascending Mont Blanc via the Gouter Ridge route means the climbing is more evenly spread over two days. The ascent involves taking the train to Nid d'Aigle or 'Eagle's Nest' at 7,783ft, followed by a hike and then a climb up a rocky ridge to the Gouter hut at 12,454ft, which gradually steepens towards the summit at 15,767ft.

Climbing CotopaxiGet to the top as the sun rises, and you can see the peaks of the surrounding volcanoes glisten red and yellow and miles of glacier spread below with the twinkling lights of Quito visible in the distance. Well worth the climb. |
