Arctic Adventure in Finnish Lapland
Finland
Welcome to the top of the world.
Finnish Lapland straddles the Arctic Circle, and as a result experiences fairly chilly winter temperatures and guaranteed snow. Not such an attractive prospect in principle, except when you add in some truly original places to stay (ice caves or glass-topped igloos, anyone?) and epic activities to be had in the forests of the north.
Finnish Lapland is a superb place to enjoy Arctic adventures from dog-sledding and snowmobile safaris through snow-clad forests and across frozen lakes, to snow-shoeing and meeting the native Saami people, many of whom still live a nomadic life criss-crossing the northern borders of Norway, Sweden and Finland.
Adventurous types with young explorers in tow should also see our Meet Father Christmas in Lapland trip, which is the perfect winter adventure for youngsters who have behaved themselves impeccably throughout the year. Unlike some of these sometimes tacky experiences, Original Travel has chosen a destination that makes the whole experience so magical that it should keep any doubts about FC’s existence at bay for a year or two.
