Favourite places

I am very biased towards Africa as I grew up in Kenya and my family still live there.  I would probably have to say Laragai as one of my top 5 places in Africa, it is a stunning lodge based in Laikipia, northern Kenya where my husband and I got married 3 years ago with views of Mount Kenya and miles of miles of savannah surrounding.

I would also have to say the Selous in Tanzania, one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa, where there are no other vehicles around when out on a game drive and the game is still very skittish.  Here one can go tiger fishing or on a river cruise if you get tired of sitting in a land rover.

On the other side of the world, I would have to say that Brazil was amazing.  I was there a week after the Rio Carnival so was still a great party atmosphere everywhere I went, and the beaches here are absolutely stunning.  Fernando de noronhia is one of the most stunning islands on the planet.  Here one can go snorkeling under water being dragged by a boat, for the ultimately lazy snorkeler!
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Travel things I want to do before I die

India is right at the top of my hit list.  Am desperate to get out to places like Bandavargh and see the tigers and experience a totally different type of safari.  I would also like to go trekking in Nepal, like on a beach in the Maldives, and do a weekend break in St. Petersburg.  I also cant wait to take my daughter to the Alps for the first time, and on a riding holiday in Argentina.

Best moments

A helicopter safari in Kenya, dog sledding in Lapland with my husband and seeing the northern lights, body surfing in Brazil, and flying over the Skeleton Coast in Namibia, it took my breath away.

Worst moments

Landing at a disused airstrip in the Selous, when our pilot got his co-ordinates wrong, and not being able to take off again, so was surrounded by a group of buffalo thinking of how I was ever going to get out of that tricky situation.  Luckily a plane overhead saw our plane and radioed for a nearby lodge to come and collect us.

Bobsledding in Lillehammer, that sort of speed is unnecessary!
