DESTINATION OVERVIEW
Composed of six principle islands, Hawai’i is one of the most remote island groups on Earth. Discovered to the western world in 1778 by Captain Cook, this archipelago in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is still growing, due to its active volcanic nature. The lush green hillsides and jagged lava fields rising steeply from the sea make for dramatic scenery. Hawaii is of course famous as a surfer’s paradise – the art of surfing was invented by the islands’ native Polynesian inhabitants – but the islands are also home to the best diving in the USA.
