This trip takes in some of New Zealand’s best winelands, staying at some of the country’s finest rural retreats.
Beginning from Auckland, take a short domestic flight to Napier and transfer to the heart of the Hawke’s Bay wine country, on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island. From here you can enjoy a private, behind the scenes tour of the best Hawke’s Bay vineyards, combined with a visit to the Art Deco city of Napier. Greenhill’s restaurant serves excellent cuisine complemented by award winning local wines.
From Hawke’s Bay, drive via rolling green countryside to the south east coast of the North Island (90 minutes by road from Wellington) and stay in another immaculate lodge while enjoying private guided tours of the renowned Martinborough wine growing region. Other activities available include hiking, horse riding and clay shooting on the estate.
Finally, drive to Wellington, with the option of doing a little sightseeing in this vibrant, compact city, before taking the ferry across the Cook Strait to Blenheim and the province of Marlborough at the top of the South Island. The Marlborough region is endowed with beautiful landscapes and is well known around the world for its wines and gourmet foods. Enjoy a day of private guided touring in this renowned wine growing area featuring some of the best Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand has to offer. Other activities available in the vicinity include whale-watching, fly fishing on one of the many local rivers and boat trips on the Marlborough Sounds waterways.
