Dive Wakaya Club

Fiji

Life (and the diving) is beautifully simple at the Wakaya Club. This immaculate private island retreat is just 40 minutes by turboprop from Fiji proper, and once there life could not be easier.

Almost all the dive sites are within five minutes boat ride of the resort, so it’s possible to have a leisurely breakfast followed by a couple of dives and be back in time for a suitably delicious lunch and an afternoon ‘at leisure’.

Not, we suspect, that you’ll be spending too much time on land with diving this good. Sonsoma aside, this is arguably the finest diving in all of Fiji thanks to the pristine condition of the reef at Wakaya, which in turn is thanks to it being pretty much off limits to all but guests at Wakaya and the occasional liveaboard.

So what to expect? Fiji is known as the soft coral capital of the world, but there is some spectacular hardware as well. Huge hard corals of all descriptions - brain, plate, star, finger – they’re all here and waiting to impress, and all surrounded by thousands upon thousands of orange and blue anthias fish.

The charming local dive team know the reef extremely well so should be able to find everything from manta rays to hammerheads for you at wonderful dives like Homestead and Lions Den.
