Dive Lizard Island
Australia
Lizard Island, situated at the northern end of the Reef, is home to little more than a Marine Research Station, a luxury hotel and a population of large lizards.
The island is a National Park, and has some of the best diving the Great Barrier Reef has to offer. Fringed by 24 powdery white beaches, it is a place for those in search of real escape and an exceptional reef experience. The Great Barrier Reef is home to an incredible diversity of marine life, and Lizard Island offers the full spectrum of diving and snorkelling trips to the inner or outer reef.
You can snorkel off a secluded beach to discover a garden of giant clams, or sample the renowned dive sites within easy reach of the island. At the world famous 'Cod Hole', you'll probably come face to face with a massive potato cod swimming right up to inspect you with child-like curiosity. Giant Queensland Grouper and wonderful, unbleached corals are also star attractions.
The dive centre is faultless, with no fewer than ten instructors and a full range of up-to-date dive gear. Full day excursions out to the Great Barrier Reef are offered every other day, and night dives are available on request.
